The War

Joshua nearly fell off when the wolves suddenly jumped into the trees.

Bronze smiled at Joshua. "Sorry, I didn't know."

"It's alright." Joshua said as he regained his balance.

Bronze smiled at him. "Being in the trees can be pretty hard."

"Yeah." Joshua said. He was glad that he got a nice wolf.

Silver was yammering on about birds.

Florence was familiar with birds.

Bronze pointed out things about the forest, like different plants.

Joshua thought Bronze was really smart.

Bronze had low self-esteem.

Joshua wasn't sure why.

Bronze was an omega once.

Joshua didn't know what that meant.

She was once at the bottom of the pack.

To Joshua that made sense. He figured everyone started at the bottom and had to work their way up.

She started at the bottom bottom. An omega was basically a servant.

But it was rather impressive that she worked her way all the way up to where she was now.

Bronze didn't feel that impressive. Even though she was the third highest ranking wolf.

Joshua was confused by that.

She was also incredibly shy. "Hey, you know what's really fun? Jumping in the top layer. I can ask if we can move up if you want." Dark called back.

"The top layer?" Joshua asked.

"Last layer of leaves." Bronze explained.

Joshua wasn't sure that was a good idea.

Dark didn't care. The wolves climbed up. Bronze wasn't the best at leaf-jumping. "You have to jump right away or you fall. The branches are very thin."

Joshua knew the branches were thinner up here. That was one of the reasons he thought it was a bad idea.
