The War

"Yes."

"I doubt you could even grasp the true extent of his power." Martin said. "He's no longer anything even close to human."

Dark looked at him. "Neither am I."

Joshua looked at her. "If what you say is true, you just might last ten seconds against Florence. Still, killing him is probably out of the question, after all, he killed not only Ragnarok, but also our holy Mother Gaia."

That meant nothing to Dark. Suddenly, a boy came running up to Dark. "That stars! The moon! They have all been blown out!"

Martin and Joshua had no idea who the boy was or what he was talking about.

Dark's eyes widened. She ran outside. The moon and the stars were gone. It was also night. "It was morning."

Joshua followed her. "How is that possible?" He couldn't believe it.

"Well it happened." Dark's attention was shifted to something in the dark. "You." Her voice was cold. A voice came, shakey, and worried from the shadows. "Please. Have pity on an old, helpless man." Flames erupted around Dark's figure. Illustrated in the light was Gustav's face.

Joshua looked at Gustav. He seemed familiar, but somehow different. Joshua remembered how the Reapers had fought him before, how Damian and Felix had betrayed them, and how a portal to Hell was opened by this insane individual.

"Please, please. I've realised my mistakes." he sobbed. Dark snarled. "You think I'm an idiot. Retribution. Punishment. You will feel the suffering you caused." Dark wasn't just going to kill this man. "And you're so hard to kill, I can have my fun."

Joshua wasn't going to interfere. He knew that if Dark did get her revenge, she would probably change forever, but with Mother Gaia dead, maybe that wasn't such a bad thing after all.

Gustav sank to his knees. "No please, they took the powers away. Please, They'll kill us all." It was pathetic really. Dark was not heartless. She faltered. "I can't." She whispered.

"They?" Joshua asked. This interested him, because there was already one person out there who wanted to kill them all.

"The sisters. They would let me live on one condition." Dark let her flames die down.

"And what condition is that?"

"I kill the one that started all the trouble." He quickly rose and fired at Dark.

Joshua quickly opened a rift in space and time that blocked the bullet's path. The other portal opened far away and closer to the ground.

Dark saw how it was. "Stop. It's my fight." She rushed at Gustav, hands enclosed with gloves of fire. She swung punches. Gustav returned blows, eventually sagging to the ground.

Joshua closed the portals and let Dark do the fighting.

Dark stood over him. "Kill me." He croaked. "No." Came the firm reply. "I have my revenge." She held out her hand to him. "Now let me help you." He stared into her eyes. "No." He then shot at her chest. it hit her.

Joshua saw Dark get shot. He reached out for scythe and it materialized from thin air.

Dark fell backwards. Her vision swam. Her body hit the ground, with a hand covering her wound in what seemed to be an effort to survive.

Joshua stepped towards Gustav with his scythe in the air, and in one movement cut him in half.

Goldie flew out and landed beside Dark.

Gustav died. Dark was still breathing, but weakly.
