The War

"So she can't talk yet."

The boy didn't judge her for not being able to speak.

"And she doesn't know very much."

He decided not to hold that against her either.

"But she'll learn as she gets older."

The boy seemed worried about this. He was much older than her, but he couldn't speak yet.

"You can't speak because of experiments. She can't speak because she's too young."

The boy wasn't sure of this. He could say his name earlier, and he couldn't remember any experiments being done on him during the three days he could remember being in the lab.

"Probably while you were asleep."

The boy shrugged. He suddenly wanted to go home and get some sleep.

"Do you want a house here?"

"Like, an apartment."

The boy wasn't too sure how much more of this he could handle in one day. His head was starting to hurt.

"Or do you want to stay with us for a little while."

He nodded. It was preferable to staying here where everything was so new.

"Okay." Dark led them back. "Bye Harvest!"

The boy followed Dark back.

Ariana looked at him.

He looked at her.

Ariana pulled his hair solemnly.

Ow ow ow ow! The boy was obviously not enjoying having his hair pulled, however he didn't want to harm Ariana, so he just let her.

She laughed. She thought it was a game.

The boy wished she would stop. He wondered why she thought this was a good idea.

Ariana got bored and looked at the little fishies in the river.
