The War

Florence looked around at all the people as they danced and enjoyed themselves. He was hardly in the mood, and as he soon found out, despite being alive for thousands of years he was still a teenager in the eyes of everyone else and wasn't admitted to the bar.

Dark walked over. "Let him drink." She smiled at Florence before joining Daniel.

Florence got a drink.

They gave him one. "Aren't you a little young?"

"No, I'm not a little young," Florence replied. He took a sip.

"You're what, nineteen?"

"296."

The bar tender laughed. "Do tell your story."

"My story?" Florence asked. He wondered if a mere mortal could possibly understand.

"Bet I could handle it, you're a reaper, aren't you?"

"How could you tell?"

The bartender smiled. "My own secret."

Florence drank his drink and began to tell his story.

The bartender listened politely.

"So then I came here on a mission. The mission itself went rather smoothly, but out of nowhere she just turns on me and drains all my power. Now here I am, alone and waiting for time to catch up to me." He finished.

The bartender nodded. "Well, enjoy yourself. Dark will fix it, or die trying."

Florence ordered another drink. "How could she fix it though?"

"She killed Gustav and won the war with only experiments that were rejected. She's pretty amazing."

"But Marissa is a Reaper. She's immortal.".

"Not everything is what it seems, Florence,"

"What does that mean?"

"More than you could ever know." The bartender smiled and melted into the shadows to serve other people.

Florence drank his second drink and looked back at the people who were dancing.

Dark and Daniel were smiling, along with everyone.

Florence knew that he could never be like them, and it wasn't just because he was a Reaper.
