The War

"You'll be surprised how powers work. A reaper is immortal but two essences in one body make it unstable, and thus, mortal." Dark explained.

Florence suddenly noticed the other Reapers. "Who are they?"

"The High Counsel. And they are going to let you live."

Florence looked at the Reapers. He felt out of uniform and didn't want to disrespect them.

The Reapers nodded at him. "It's been decided. You will be spared as long as you aid the feline on her quest to destroy Clone." One rasped. Florence felt his powers returning.

"Alright." Florence said. He doubted the powers he recieved were actually his own, because they currently resided in Marissa.

"One will be taken though, you can no longer kill people with your touch. And Florence, stay out of the wine. You are disgrace when you are drunk."

Florence was ashamed, and it wasn't only about the thing with the wine. The Reaper's Touch was the most basic and well-known ability among the Reapers.

"You should be." They simply said. The room melted as they were dismissed.

"I should have never taken this mission."

It was too late and he was back in the cave.

Florence wished he could be back home in Italy, stealing the souls of the dead and the near dead alike. He doubted that he could ever go back to that life.

Arianna was looking at him. "Mr. Florence, can you tell me a bedtime story?"

Florence quickly thought up a human bedtime story and told it to Arianna.

"That's a really weird story." She said. "Is that a reaper story?" Arianna was trying to be good.

Florence shook his head. "It's a human story."

"Humans are weird." Arianna said.

Florence agreed. He was human once, but that wa a very long time ago.

"Momma sometimes tells me stories about the war and her friends before the war.

"Does she?"

"Yeah, sometimes, it's about how brave they were during the war, other times, she sings a song about a girl who is fated to keep a dragon asleep by singing and her brother wants to see her, I like it when Momma sings." Arianna yawned.

Florence found this interesting.

"Did your momma sing to you?"

"No." Florence replied.

"Why?"
