The War

Another reaper began to appear nearby.

Daniel looked over at them. "Who are you?"

The other one ignored him an ruffed the other reaper's hair. "Thought you could ditch me, eh, Florence?" She said in a happy tone.

Florence was glad to see her. "I wasn't trying to ditch you. Something urgent just came up is all."

Sonya didn't seem amused by what was going on at all.

"To urgent for me?" She said innocently.

Florence was beginning to feel bad. "This is serious. The last Reaper assigned to this mission died."

"Good." Dark sounded. "Being undead must be horrible."

"Not good." Florence replied. "Reaper's keep the natural order of the world. Also, they aren't exactly easy to kill."

"Like Gustav?" Dark taunted.

"Not quite. Reapers can only die if they first become mortal. Gustav is already mortal, just hard to kill. He is more easily compared to a cockroach."

"So you can kill me?" Dark had silently dropped down silently and stood behind him.

"With one touch." Florence said. Dark had temporarily distracted his attention by moving behind him. Sonya saw the opening.

She morphed into a human, something she couldn't do in her old body. A rather large knife with a curved blade was held in her hand. She lunged at the female Reaper, but Daniel wouldn't stand for this. He got in between Sonya and the Reaper just in time for the blade to pierce his stomach. It was barely a flesh wound, but as Sonya moved away Daniel fell to the ground. Florence looked over to see a shimmering blue soul leave his body.

Dark narrowed her eyes. Sonya was not only on fire, but Dark's claw was impaled in her heart. "No one. I repeat no one. Hurts my family."

Sonya whimpered. She hadn't intended to stab Daniel, in fact she actually sort of liked him. At this point, however, it didn't matter. She was dead. The blade fell from her hand and Florence quickly took it, along with the rotting soul.

"I want him revived. Keep the other souls. Save you undead skin." Dark ordered.

Florence restored Daniel's body and shoved his soul back in. He suddenly noticed something he hadn't before. It seemed to be a newly created soul, and it was hovering over Sonya's body.

Daniel woke up shortly after having his soul put back in his body. "What happened?"

"Death."

"Wait, I died?" Daniel asked.

Florence was examine the other soul closely.

"Not anymore."

Florence examined Sonya's corpse. A wave of grey energy washed over her and suddenly a young child appeared by her side. He was, against all odds, fully human.

Daniel looked over at the child's body.

"I am not killing a child."

"You already did."

Dark gave him the middle finger. "Well I'm leaving."

Florence turned to Daniel. "What do you think? Does this child desrve a chance at life?"

Daniel nodded.

Florence nudged the child's body. It seemed to age to seven years old. He placed the second soul back inside.

"Isn't that against the rules, Flory?" Marissa's taunt was also a threat."
