The War

There were different sections. There was a target section with stationary targets, a station with moving targets, and a special one where you had one sense removed and had to shoot. Dark watched him go in from her practice. 'I hope he isn't overwhelmed.' She smiled a little and went back to her judo.

Scott noticed the sections. The first two were child's play for him. The third section was slightly harder.

Dark appeared behind him. "The third one's my favorite."

"And why is that?" Scott asked. Even while speaking to her he remained focused on the targets.

"You have to listen for the enemies heartbeat as they silently creep up behind you. Their foot disutbing a dead leaf, you have to look for the camoflagded rifle among the swamp environment. You have to smell the sweat as they take aim. You have to sense thw air disturbance before the (obviously fake) bullet grazes you. You have to taste the wind with your mouth and taste their fear. It gives you a feeling of realization of just how powerful you are. That is why this station is my favorite." Exitement was shinning in the woman's eyes. Scott felt intimidated by his old friend. He realized that Dark had grown up and, sadly, was the boss of him and older, therefore, more powerful that him. Dark was a parent now, with ties and responsibilities. She wasn't the Dark he had died knowing.

Scott wasn't entirely sure how to respond to that. He had known Dark for a while and oddly, she seemed more unstable then even before. He hoped that Arianna would be okay living with someone like this. He tried to remain focused on shooting.

Dark knew she was unstable. Dark didn't really care. To her, everyone else was unstable.

Scott turned his attention back to shooting.

Dark, not wanting to be out done, quickly notched three arroows at the targets with her eyes closed and hit bullseyes on each.

Scott wasn't trying to show Dark up, it just came naturally.

Dark saw him as a younger person, trying to challenge her. Dark notched more and more arrows at increasingly complicated and difficult targets.

Scott wasn't in the mood for Dark's competitiveness. He missed the targets in purpose.

Dark kept firing until she missed by one point.

Scott was still letting Dark win.

Dark noticed and purposely misfired so that the arrow hit her bulls-eye, but Scott's too.

Scott was still blindfolded, but noticed that Dark had done something odd. He payed no mind to it.

Dark put down her bow and left.

Scott heard Dark leave and removed his blindfold.

He saw Dark go back to combat.

Scott figured he might as well try out combat, despite it being his worst area.

Dark was practicing kicking. Dark could kick as high as her head. Dark was a tall person.

Scott couldn't kick very high.

Dark felt the need to keep training.

Scott felt the need to begin training.

Dark was very strong.
