The War

The Reaper looked up at her. He removed his hood to reveal pitch black hair and glowing red eyes. "I take it that pleased you?"

"Yes, very much, thank you."

The Reaper reached out and grabbed Gustav's soul. They held it for a moment before crushing it in their hand. The destroyed soul turned into some sort of dust and faded away.

Dark was very happy at that.

The Reaper decided that his business was concluded here. He turned to leave, but something prevented him from doing so.

"Are you gonna go or what? 'Cause I have a husband to mourn here."

Something was clawing at the back of the Reaper's mind. "Daniel, right?"

"Yes, that is he. Why?"

"I guess you could say I knew him, when he was alive anyways." The Reaper could hear a faint voice, though it was only in his head, and far too quiet for them to make out any of the words being spoken.

"Could you bring him back, I have a child to raise."

"I suppose I could try." The Reaper said. He began concentrating and grey energy began to form. The energy enveloped him and when it dispersed, Daniel was standing when the Reaper had been.

"Why thank you, mysterious reaper." Dark said and hugged her husband.

Daniel was confused, but hugged Dark anyways.

"How do you feel?"

"I don't know." Daniel said. "Being dead was just..." he had no words to describe it. "But what I don't understand is how I am alive again. What happened?"

"A weird reaper brought you back and killed Gustav."

"A weird Reaper?" Daniel asked. "You mean one that you haven't seen before?" he seemed somewhat concerned by this.

She nodded in affirmation before turning to attention to Joshua.

Joshua looked over at her. "What?"

"I don't think that it's a good idea to trust this new Reaper." Daniel said, though it was mainly to himself.

"Are you alrighty there?"

"I've been better."

"Who was that?"

"I honestly don't know."

"You sure?"

"It wasn't anyone I've ever seen before, though it did look suspiciously similar to..." Joshua cut himself off when he noticed the look on Daniel's face. Is he hiding something?
