The War

Dark smacked him.

"What was that for?"

"No taking other people's money."

"It was either that or steal the cigarettes."

Dark hit him some more.

"Cut that out!"

Dark took the pack.

"Are you serious?"

It burst into flame.

Scott couldn't believe this. "Was that really necessary?"

"Yes."

Scott looked away. He watched the snow fall.

there was a lot of snow.

Scott found it irritating.

DArk liked it.

Scott stared out into the white abyss. He suddenly noticed a shape at the edge of his field of vision that slowly moved closer until he could make out a human figure. They appeared to be a teenage and were carrying some sort of box.

Dark was instantly on guard. She tapped his shoulder to tell him she saw it too.

Scott stood up and looked at the boy. They appeared to be sixteen and something about them was strangely familiar. "What's in the box?" Scott asked.

"A present, sir. For Mister Daniel." The boy said. His voice was that of an orphan/street urchin from an old movie.

Dark resisted the urge to roll around laughing. "Mister Daniel?"

"Clearly he's not from around here." Scott said to Dark. Still, he could help but wonder how this kid knew Daniel.

"Lab kid. I don't trust him. Plus, I'm the one in charge here."

"Lab?" the kid asked. He didn't seem to know what Dark was talking about.

"You know, tests, experiments, cages, that stuff."

"Please missus can I just give this gift to mister Daniel and be on my way?"

Scott wanted to laugh at how funny the kid sounded, but figured it would be rude to do so as he was clearly down on his luck.

Dark did laugh this time. "I need to check all gifts for the father of my kid."
