The War

Scott picked up Harvest's scythe and charged Gustav. The scythe tore right through him, but he healed almost instantly. "I guess some things never change."

Harvest was paralyzed. She was clearly terrified.

Scott stood between her and Gustav as if to defend her.

"Foolish child." Gustav said, knocking him aside with a single blow.

Harvest's old reaction kicked in and she was surrounded by a blue forcefield.

Gustav saw this. "Come now child, I'm not trying to hurt you." he said. "I simply can't have you interfering with my plans."

"You're gonna kill me!"

"I never said I wasn't going to kill you, however I plan to make you death as painless as possible."

"Just like you killed Daniel! And helped in Clone's demise! All of your little 'projects' die!"

"Killed Daniel?" Gustav asked. "Oh, the little failure. I'm afraid he's very much alive."

"Lies. And you sent the assassin for Alpha. I won't let you kill the world beacon of hope. Or destroy the colonies again."

"You don't believe me?" Gustav asked. He smashed one of the nearby test tubes and the liquid ran out, revealing Daniel. "As for Alpha, he simply got in my way. What makes you think that you can stop me anyways?"

"Hope. That is just a clone to lure Dark in. Your terror is over."

"It would seem you are misinformed. The clone for Dark was the one that I had killed. Not that she'll ever know. Besides, hope isn't enough to stop one such as myself."

"Wrong. Dark would know. And cloning her child..."

"Clearly she couldn't tell the difference. And what business of yours is it who I clone?"

Scott, who was barely conscious, had heard this and it confirmed his theory. He knew something was wrong when they found Daniel lying in the snow. It was a trick to send Dark into a fit of rage. But why?

"It's just wrong. Ariana never did anything to you."

"Perhaps not yet, but one day she will."

"But I'm sure your medic spy will take care of Dark."

Gustav was unaware of where Harvest was getting her information from. "My 'medic spy' is not intended to kill Dark, merely keep an eye on her as she spirals down into a depression and make sure that she turns against everything she once loved."

"Then you must not know Dark all that well. She will rapidly decend into insanity as she has and will go to your precious city and burn it to the ground."

Gustav didn't seem phased by this. "I've wasted enough of my time here. You must die."

Scott grabbed the scythe and got to his feet. He didn't intend on letting Gustav kill anyone.

Gustav dodged a vertical swing of the scythe and caught the pole. He wrenched it from Scott's hands and downed him with a single blow, careful not to slice him in half. He turned back to Harvest.

Harvest slammed him into a wall with her psychic powers. "Did you plan on using the boy again?"

He hit the wall but managed to keep hold of his weapon. "I assure you I have no idea what you're talking about."

"That Steven guy from the city with Scott's gun." She make him explode.

Gustav reformed. "He said his name was Steven? And you bought it?" he asked. "Some people can't tell a decent clone when they see one I suppose."
