The War

"I don't believe so." Florence replied. He didn't think Marissa would rat him out, and as long as she kept quiet no one would know.

Daniel went to go find Dark.

"Hey Flory," Marissa gripped his face in her hands and pulled it in close to her's. "People aren't always who they appear to be." She grinned as she sucked his essence from him. He crumpled to the ground. Still 'alive'.

Daniel had already gone, so there were no witnesses except the child on the floor who was barely breathing.

Dark was in the trees. She watched Marissa dissapear before rushing to help Florence.

Florence looked up at Dark. He was still alive, but he had difficulty moving.

Dark looked at him.

He used his scythe to support his weight as he stood back up. "I... I think I may have made a mistake."

Dark smiled. "After war, you tend to try to protect people who don't know that they're in danger."

Daniel reappeared a while later.

"Clone's back from the dead."

"Oh. That's not good."

"You kidding?" Dark looked at Florence. "How you doing?"

"I'll manage." Florence replied. He looked at the dagger he had before passing it to Daniel. "It's probably best if you take this."

"Do you want to stay with us until you're better?"

"I suppose it would be better than staying here."

Dark agreed.

"What about him?" Daniel asked, referring to Sonya's child.

"That was messed up on so many levels. You people decide on what to do."

"Well, you did sort of kill him while he was inside of her, so I think that the least you could do is give him a home until he can support himself." Florence said.

"Again. So messed up."

"Yeah, I suppose it is. In a line of work where all you do is go around and watch people die, that sort of thing doesn't bother you too much."

That made Dark very nauseous.

Florence wasn't sure why.

"It reminds me so much of the lab."

Daniel figured they probably shouldn't stay at the lab longer than necessary. "We should leave."
