The War

"Do you really want to know?" Florence asked.

"Yes."

"I gave him that power." Gaia said. She wasn't exactly sure what reason she could give for doing such a thing that would make any sense to Dark.

Dark still wanted to know. "Why?"

"It's a long story..."

"I have time."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes."

"Well, we were dating at the time..."

"And?" Dark was used to hearing that.

Florence wasn't sure why Gaia told them that they were dating. Immortal beings should be able to have privacy too.

"Well, one day he just sorta vanished out of the blue. At first I thought he didn't want to see me anymore, but I soon discovered that he had been murdered by a crimelord named Austin Gustav. I also found out that he had been returned to life as a Reaper. When I found him later..." Gaia stopped and looked at Florence.

Dark nodded. "Don't worry about privacy either. I won't gossip."

Florence sighed. "When I died I became a Reaper, like Gaia said, but it wasn't that simple. For whatever reason, my mind was completely destroyed when I died. As a Reaper, I was a puppet to the High Council. Gaia restored most of my memories and helped me break free. Back then I hadn't realized exactly who she was." Florence paused fore a moment before continuing. "As a Reaper I got no respect. I always had to do the dirty work and clean up after people. I was the bottom rung. Still, I tried not to mind it too much, I mean, atleast I was away from that murderer. Then one day, Gaia told me that if I could somehow become more powerful then people would finally start to respect me. I wasn't exactly sure what she meant by that, but then out of nowhere, she granted me an incredible amount of power. With it I was able to easily rise through the ranks of the Twelve. And then it happened..."

Dark was listening politely.

Gaia started talking. "The High Council decided I was a threat to the mortal world and the natural order. I was banished from this realm. It's only natural that Florence would be angry."

"Ummm...just know that you can always stay with us if you need to." Dark gave a smile.

Daniel hadn't followed any of that.

Dark had.

'What were they talking about' Daniel asked Dark.

'How Florence got his powers.'

'Oh. Cool.'

'Kay.' Dark waited for someone to say something.

Daniel looked over at them.

Dark turned to leave.

Daniel followed.
